STRATGEY DESIGN

CHATR Strategy

Children and Young Peoples Emotional Health & Wellbeing Strategy

The ChATR Programme is a major multi-agency initiative focused on childhood adversity, trauma, and resilience. Its core purpose is to create a community where children who are at risk of, or have experienced, trauma receive the right support at the right time, enabling them to have the best possible opportunity for a healthy future.

The strategy is built on principles of trauma-informed practice and requires cultural change across all participating services (health, care, education, community, and voluntary sectors). It is a highly sensitive and impactful public health initiative.

The current visual identity, centered on the waterwheel logo (representing the River Wandle) and the original green and purple palette, has been in use for over 30 years (since 1992). This identity was created in a pre-digital age and was considered outdated and tired. It felt somewhat disjointed and lacking a unified visual system.

Brief

The focus is on mitigating the impact and preventing future adversity in ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences). A sensitive, compassionate, and non-judgmental approach is paramount in the design approach. The document must feel positive and focus on hope, growth, and capacity building. The design must reflect the collaboration between over 50 diverse partners.
